IKON designs the new exhibition for the Archaeological Museum of Romans d’Isonzo
The Civico Museo Archeologico of Romans d’Isonzo has officially opened to the public, featuring a complete physical and digital exhibition curated by IKON. The museum narrates the Longobard world through a path that integrates original artifacts with immersive experiences, transforming the visit into a direct encounter with Longobard civilization.
The exhibition design was conceived to overcome the limitations of traditional museography: artifacts are not confined within display cases but become the centerpiece of a dynamic narrative space. Through an integrated digital ecosystem, historical matter is amplified to restore context and depth to the region's history.
The exhibition path is divided into several technological solutions:
-
Holographic screens: allowing artifacts to be viewed suspended in mid-air, enabling the observation of complex details from unprecedented perspectives.
-
Interactive Metahumans: digital characters integrated to engage with visitors, making historical dissemination immediate and personalized.
-
VR Experiences: virtual reality stations that allow for an in-depth exploration of the customs, traditions, and daily life of Longobard society.
-
Video mapping: architectural projections that transform the museum surfaces into a continuous and evocative narrative support.
The project represents an example of how digital innovation can bridge the gap between artifact and visitor. Technology does not replace historical data but acts as a tool for accessibility, transforming the museum into a living and direct meeting point with Friuli's past.
