Villa Manin tells its secrets

An interactive workstation characterized by a large touch screen is at the center of this project developed for ERPAC (Regional Cultural Heritage Body of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region) with the aim of enhancing the history and role of Villa Manin within the cultural landscape of our region. Conceived, designed and built by IKON, the station allows you to discover the art and history preserved by this majestic complex through the five different levels of study. The contents, available in Italian and English, follow over the centuries the architectural evolution of the Villa up to its present appearance, the phases of conception and transformation of the park, the history of the territory and the Manin family and the succession of illustrious personalities who are been hosted. Finally, the experience is completed with a virtual tour through the halls of the residence to discover the art and objects that characterize them.

The historical phases of the villa

The user is guided by a timeline to discover the numerous expansion interventions that have determined the current configuration of the complex. Through simple gestures it is possible to rotate the model, enlarge the view to appreciate the single details and select the hotspots present to obtain more contextual information.

Timelines

Interactive timelines allow the visitor to follow every historical study in a touch: from the construction of the villa and the genesis of the park, to the history of the Manin family, the territory and the characters who have passed through here.

3D model

The three-dimensional reconstruction of the complex, also carried out by means of aerial photogrammetry techniques, is extremely faithful to the original and detailed in every architectural and landscape element. The 3500 photographs taken also using drones, generated a 250 million polygon model which was subsequently simplified to 3 million to optimize its display in the touchscreen station. The work was then completed by projecting the textures of the different materials onto the surfaces of the model, from the grass of the lawn to the roof tiles, which were reproduced starting from the original images and balancing their colors and intensity.

The Virtual Tour

The visitor can undertake a Virtual Tour inside the two floors of the Villa to admire its numerous richly decorated and furnished rooms at 360 °. An interactive floor plan is always visible on the monitor to allow you to know your position at any time and easily change your point of view. For the realization of this virtual tour the Virtours technology created and patented by IKON was used.
