Like a ZAR
AR Advergaming
Ivan Zaytsev, Red Bull’s testimonial, is the protagonist of this video game developed by Ikon for the launch of the new Four Pack dedicated to the volleyball star.
Distributed via an app for iOS and Android, the video game is developed in 3D graphics and allows players to impersonate Ivan in the serving phase: a few simple "gestures" to launch the ball in the air, hit it with all the power available and get the best score.
The playing field appears in “augmented reality” mode and the figure of Ivan, faithfully reproduced thanks to the acquisition in laserscan, moves in a realistic way: all the animations were in fact realized with motion capture to reproduce exactly the movement style of Zaytsev.

Ivan Zaytsev's three-dimensional model was created from a laserscan acquisition of his body. The "point cloud" generated by the scan was then reworked and optimized for its inclusion in the game.
Animation and Motion Capture
One of the project requirements was to convincingly recreate Ivan's play style. To obtain an optimal result, a motion capture session was carried out with the athlete, in which all the information needed to animate the three-dimensional model was acquired.
Augmented Reality with AR Kit and AR Core
"Like a Zar" allows you to view the playing field in AR mode framing a support surface (eg a table) directly with your smartphone or tablet. For the implementation of augmented reality features, the AR Kit libraries from Apple and Ar Core from Google were used.
Scoring and prize draw
The player scores higher the more powerful and precise the serves are. Additional bonuses are awarded when the user hits targets in the field or when making an Ace. Thanks to the online ranking, Redbull has been able to designate weekly winners who have won special prizes.
